Are you ready for a challenge?

C’mon! Take this one on. It can be fun, and it’s full of information! (Yes, I’ve already done this, more than once.)

Over the next 3 days, change something about your looks. Then, spend time with others who know you well or who see you often. Don’t draw attention to the change.

Here are some ideas to consider.

  • Style your hair in a new way. Or color it. Or cut it if you dare.
  • Or, wear make-up if you don’t, or don’t wear make-up if you do. Or change the way you usually highlight your features.
  • Or, dress differently. Be trendy if you’re conservative, or formal if you’re slouchy, or wrinkled if you’re starched and pressed. Or wear a color or accessory you typically would not.
  • Or, if you don’t have a tattoo, then get a temporary one and let part of it show.

One important caveat, though—do not violate any aesthetic rules or wardrobe requirements of your workplace that could have fallout you don’t want!

OK?

Now, when you’re ready…

Observe closely what happens. Pay attention to how you feel as you mix up your “visual message.” Note the reactions of others and how their responses affect you, if they do.

After 3 days have gone by, tell me what happened. Write to me at lisa@lisamanyoky.com and let me know if I can share your results, anonymously of course.

Then, a few days later, I will tell you why I suggested you do this.
